SafeCity – Safety for urban centers

The SafeCity concept introduces innovative and collision-safe solutions to urban centers, enhancing safety for all city residents. Lamp posts, safety poles, traffic signal poles, and signage poles and signs can be designed to be collision-safe, helping to minimize damage and protect lives.
Protection for all road users
Although urban centers are not mandated to install collision-safe products as highways and motorways are, it’s crucial to implement these solutions in city areas as well. Products compliant with the EN12767 standard protect both vehicle occupants and other road users, potentially saving lives where people are most vulnerable. KAPU®-HE – Energy-Absorbing Safety Pole
The unique design of the KAPU®-HE safety pole brings a vehicle to a controlled stop by absorbing the impact energy, protecting both the driver and other road users. This makes KAPU®-HE particularly suitable for placement near pedestrian pathways, intersections, and areas where there’s a risk of veering into trees or rocks. The conical KAPU®-HE pole meets the highest class HE, 100, of the EN 12767 standard. Poles in this class can be used on all roads to promote traffic safety. The 8m and 10m KAPU®-HE poles belong to the highest passenger safety class, HE 3.
KAPU®-NE – Non-Energy-Absorbing Safety Pole
KAPU®-NE poles safely yield to vehicles during a collision. The Finnish Transport Agency recommends using KAPU®-NE poles in locations where there are no pedestrian pathways or trees behind the poles. The heights of EN 12767-compliant and CE-marked NE poles range from 4 to 15 meters. The conical steel pole, also suitable for bridge installations, is hot-dip galvanized. KAPU-NE falls under the standard class 100, NE, 2.
